Reflections on five years as Guernsey’s Lieutenant-Governor,
from Vice Admiral Sir Ian Corder KBE,CB

Before taking up his post, Vice Admiral Sir Ian Corder sought the thoughts of one his predecessors who remarked wryly that “although you are called ‘Lieutenant-Governor’, just remember - you govern nothing!”. Whilst there is a certain degree of constitutional truth in that remark, the post of Lieutenant-Governor does bring with it roles and responsibilities that few Islanders ever see.

His Excellency shares his experiences and thoughts on five memorable years as the Sovereign’s personal representative and Commander-in-Chief of the Bailiwick, along with some of the lighter moments of ‘not governing’.

No charge is made for this lecture but because of its anticipated popularity, you should enrol by emailing enrol@wea.org.gg
