This 8 week course is comprised of 8 x two hour sessions that are half practice and half discussions about
how to become more ‘mindful’. The practice element involves gentle tai chi and meditation, which is like training for the brain to stop flitting from past to future and rest in the present moment.
After practice we discuss a different topic each week about the nature of the human mind – how we often run on automatic pilot and how our perceptions are shaped by our life experiences and become fixed. By coming into the present, we allow for new ways of thinking and become calmer, more compassionate and more resilient. There has been much empirical evidence undertaken on the participants of this 8-week course and it has been shown that you literally rewire the synapses of the brain by taking part.
